Site changes, etc.
I'm gearing up to make a couple of changes to the site over the course of the next few... well, whatever length of time passes while I feel the motivation.
I set up a beta (which I actually haven't had since launching the site) so I feel much better about tinkering with it. It's not that I'm not going to redo the site in ASP.Net eventually, it's just that I'm on-again-off-again with that development because it's a big project. But there's a couple of things I want to get done right now.
The main thing is, I want to get the plan set up on the site, since I'm reaching the end of the poster and it's just more convenient to keep track of it on the computer. And it's not really that complicated a web application to write.
Also, Wes mentioned setting up Amazon Associates for his site today at work, so I signed up. I'd considered doing it since Mike's using it for his site, but just couldn't talk myself in to completing the process.
Now that I've done it, I'm not quite sure what to do with it, though. I'm thinking about going through and finding all of my "review"-type posts (like the one last week on Things a Computer Scientist Rarely Talks About) and changing them over to product links, but that makes me feel like I'm selling out. (And turning that last post into affiliate referrals would make me feel like a worse type of sellout.) And if I do that, I'll probably end up writing more review posts than I would otherwise, whether subconsciously or consciously. Which makes me feel like even more of a sell-out.
Maybe I'll just put up some of the targeted ad links. Probably should have done that when I was getting the flood of traffic from my GridView tutorials. Oh well.
