Hiking Trails: Hall Bend Trail

Near: Lenoir City, TN (Knoxville/Maryville area)

Trailhead: Located between Tellico Dam Recreation Area and Tellico Village, on highway 444 just off highway 321.

Trail: Consists of a 5 mile loop, with a couple of shortcuts from the trailhead into the loop. A long path across the field connects the trailhead to the main loop and connectors. The main loop (white square blaze) follows the lake shore, while two smaller connector trails (yellow equal sign blaze) provide shortcuts across the loop.

The west side of the loop works its way up to an overlook, while the east side of the loop tends to run along the water. The west side was grown up in a few places.

I only encountered a few other people on the trail, although boat traffic is fairly heavy (it’s directly across Tellico Lake from a recreation area and boat ramp).

If you hike in the winter when the water level is low, there’s quite a bit more shoreline to explore.
